What does the TEAMServe assignment involve?
TEAMServe orientations for summer ministries are held in mid-May and mid-June with departure for ministry immediately following. Summer ministries vary in length; see dates listed for specifics. Summer applications should be submitted by April 15. (We cannot guarantee summer placement for applications received after this time.) For year-round ministries, applications should be turned in 90 days before desired departure. Additional orientations are held in October and January. What is the process? The first step is to fill out the Preliminary Information Form (PIF). This gives us some basic information about you that is very helpful to our missionaries as we are discussing places for you to serve. A mission coach in your region will then contact you to help identify a possible placement for you, based on the opportunities we have available. Then we will send you the TEAMServe application and references. Once your file is complete, we will notify you regarding your acceptance and send you a TEAMServe manual explaining your next steps. Obtaining Passports and visas, making airline reservations, and raising support take time, so we encourage you to get started today. What does TEAMServe cost? Expenses vary by project. In all cases, the total cost listed with each opportunity includes round-trip international airfare from Chicago to assignment, orientation and debriefing, food and housing expenses, on-field transportation costs, health insurance, a background check and administration. You may need additional funds to cover visa expenses, immunizations, and domestic round-trip travel to Chicago. There may be other expenses depending upon your type of ministry. |
