- Step 1: Fill out Application form—This is accessible to you on-line by request and easily submitted to TEAM, along with a brief autobiography, résumé of ministry, education, and work experience, and names of references—3 personal, 2 church, and 1 employer.
- Step 2: Call sending church—We will confirm your church’s endorsement of your application and your call to cross-cultural ministry.
- Step 3: Conduct ongoing placement discussions—We want to discover or confirm where in TEAM’s world you best fit.
- Step 4: Participate in a telephone interview—We will arrange for a 60-90 minute conversation that helps us know each other better.
- Step 5: Answer Biblical Beliefs Questionnaire—This will give you the opportunity to write out your core theological beliefs.
- Step 6: Complete health assessments—Physical and mental health questionnaires and a physical exam give us your complete health picture.
- Step 7: Solicit background check—A criminal background check is required of all applicants.
- Step 8: Gather references—We want to hear from at least 5 people who know you, including pastoral staff, friends, and a recent employer.
- Step 9: Evaluate your physical and mental/emotional health—TEAM will use qualified professionals to assess your physical and emotional health.
- Step 10: Assemble completed file—Our staff will assemble your completed file and send it to a group of independent Assessors.
- Step 11: Prayerfully review file—The trained Assessors will base their evaluation on evidence of call, character, competence, and compatibility with TEAM. Their assessment usually takes about two weeks.
- Step 12: Inform Applicant of decision—When you are selected, the Application Coordinator will notify you that you have become a Candidate with TEAM.
- Step 13: Open financial account at TEAM—You will be assigned an account number enabling you to begin raising financial support.

- Step 1: Come to a Placement Consultation—The Placement Coordinator will invite you to attend a one-and-a-half day consultation at the Wheaton office, providing an opportunity for both you and us to know each other better.
- Step 2: Conduct placement deliberation—The Placement Team will evaluate your specific ministry assignment to determine if you need additional training or experience before you begin your service.
- Step 3: Appoint as a TEAM Missionary—The Placement Coordinator notifies you of your appointment after the placement deliberation has concluded.
- Step 4: This completes phaseone—phaseone of your missionary learning experience is comprised of the Inquirer, Applicant and Candidate stages.

- Step 1: Attend phasetwo orientation—Soon after your appointment you will be invited to phasetwo sessions at TEAM’s international headquarters to learn more about TEAM, support discovery, and professional development.
- Step 2: Complete phasethree learning—You will work with the Appointee Advisor as you build your support team and undertake individualized learning.
- Step 3: Attend phasefour orientation—Shortly before your departure for your ministry area you will be invited to phasefour sessions at TEAM to learn about intercultural skills and ministry effectiveness.
- Step 4: Depart for ministry area—Final approval for departure is given by the Appointee Advisor when your learning activities are completed and your monthly and one-time financial requirements have been met.

- Step 1: Complete phasefive—Upon arrival in your ministry area you will begin language and cultural acquisition learning.
- Step 2: Continue ongoing learning.
