Orphans here are often born out of wedlock to expatriate women with the father being a national. The mother is sent to her home country, and the man's family usually doesn’t want the child. There is little, if any, publicity about them or the location of the orphanages. Orphans are not integrated into society and are generally not up for adoption. 31 NORTH ASIA A recent TEAM Vision Trip participant writes,

“Eye-opening!” In a word, that’s how several described our recent two-week vision trip to explore two of TEAM’s new open doors among the minority people groups of East Asia.  Our eyes were opened to see the beauty of the physical landscape and the rich culture of these industrious, agrarian people.  More importantly, our spiritual eyes were opened to see the profound needs of the people, spiritually blinded by centuries of ancestor worship and animism, burning incense before shrines and gods of stone.  One of these musically gifted people groups, scattered throughout the mountainous region of East Asia, have a population of 2.9 million with less than 1000 known believers in Jesus Christ, and no known church.  We walked along the rice patties taking in the beauty.  One man was plowing the field with his water buffalo. Women and men alike were planting in the rice patties. Jesus’ words about spiritual sowing and reaping came to mind, “I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields: They are ripe for harvest.” (John 4:35)

Thanks for praying for the vision trip.  Pray that the participants would have peace about next steps in investing their lives long-term in the spiritual harvest. Pray that more would be moved to participate in similar vision trips planned for the future.
