The Indonesian government has enabled the homesteading of its largest island, Papua, by largely Muslim “trans-migrants” from other over-populated cities.
This influx of non-native peoples has provided a unique opportunity for the Papuan Church to relationally demonstrate the Body of Christ to those who have never experienced it.
A community center in Merauke, a city of 72,000 on Papua’s southeastern coast, has begun to provide relationship building, HIV/AIDS prevention training, English teaching, computer and business skills training. These activities provide an open door for transplanted Muslims to live in a positive daily relationship with vibrant followers of Christ.
** This may be the opportunity to let your life point a Muslim “trans-migrant” to Jesus Christ.
